Under förarbetet till min videoinstallation som visades på Nya
Stadsgalleriet vintern 2007 så blev jag ombedd att komma med förslag
till ett animerat konstverk inne på Stadsbiblioteket. Min forsta idé
var att presentera en dagbok som arkeologerna gräver fram ur
biblioteket om 700 år. En dagbok fylld med texter och teckningar
nedtecknade mellan åren 2008-2092.

Dessvärre så visar det sig att dagboken är skriven på ett språk som inte
går att tyda. Rykten gör gällande att den innehåller fascinerande
men också skrämmmande läsning över hur framtiden kommer att utveckla
sig under senare delen av 2000-talet. Något vi lämnas lyckligt ovetande
om eftersom innehållet är oläsbart. Återstår gör endast de teckningar
som illustrerar denna frånvarande text.

The Diary video installation is projected onto a wall in the city
library of Halmstad and appears as an animated mural. The wokrs comes
from an idea of a far distant future. Archaeologists dig up a diary with
text and drawings made between 2008 and 2092. Iy contains a librarian´s
notes, describing how working at the library changed over time. The
advanced technology of the future, developed in the 21st century cannot
dechiper the diary. All that´s left are the drawings illustrating this abcent
text. Mikael Ericsson will add to Dagbok over time. The work is governed
by light and is therefore not visible at all times. It can be seen more
frequently at darker times of the year.
